I have a fan theory that this album is a reference to Black Flag (and the My War album in particular). Both covers are coated with the same shade of blue and the four bars that comprise the Black Flag logo seem to be represented by the four members. In fact, the first and third members on the Weezer cover are slightly taller than the other (similar to the ways the bars on the Black Flag logo are staggered so as to give the impression that the flag is waving). It also resembles the Ramones' debut cover because they are both just the band facing the camera. Perhaps Weezer were displaying their influences. The music is more like The Ramones than Black Flag. Pinkerton is a little more like Black Flag though.
